About this event

The 2020 State of the Science Workshop on Wildlife and Offshore Wind Energy will be held completely virtually. Plenary presentations and Q&A panel discussions will take place throughout the week of November 16-20, 2020 , focusing on assessing the state of knowledge regarding offshore wind development’s cumulative effects on wildlife populations and ecosystems. Smaller working meetings will be held in late 2020 and early 2021 to identify key studies that could be conducted in the next 3-5 years to improve our understanding of cumulative biological impacts as the offshore wind industry develops in the eastern U.S. The effort will culminate in a final webinar in the Spring of 2021 to report the outcomes of these working group efforts.

Registration cost includes participation in the plenary sessions, as well as breakout group meetings and the final webinar, though you may choose to only participate in the plenary session. When registering, you will be asked to indicate interest in working meetings as well as your primary topic of interest from the following: benthos, fishes, birds, bats, marine mammals, sea turtles, and environmental change. These questions will help workshop organizers gauge interest in breakout group sessions, but do not serve as a sign up. Following the November plenary sessions, participants will receive a survey with an opportunity to sign up for a a working meeting.
